An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, especially when it comes to microbiologically-influenced corrosion (MIC). Our preventive measures extend the life of materials, prevent environmental damage and hazardous situations, and save you unnecessary costs. A sustainable choice for your assets and our planet.
Building corrosion resistant systems together
Our MIC experts are happy to work with you at the design stage of a system or project. As a result, we can prevent or significantly reduce MIC corrosion problems. What does MIC Preventive Design involve? An excellent example of our work is the successful construction of a new gas pipeline under the River Humber.
Prevent corrosion problems with targeted inspections
More and more maintenance companies are faced with cases of MIC corrosion during their work. By making MIC monitoring part of your risk-based inspections, timely action can be taken.
Of course, the first step is to determine if MIC corrosion is present. Our MIC Diagnostics products are the key. We use them to identify risk-sensitive parts of your assets and then monitor them. Monitoring involves, for example, taking samples once a year from at-risk locations and analysing them in the laboratory. This gives you an insight into whether the risk of MIC corrosion has increased or not. Based on this, mitigation measures can be taken or adjusted if necessary.
We can provide a customised maintenance plan that will result in less damage, less maintenance and an extended service life of up to 20 years.
